Until now, one person managed all purchases and registrations for the household. Think: a parent signing up a child, or a spouse handling everything for the family.

Now, with Family Accounts, it’s easier to share the load. You can invite members (14+) from your account to create their own login. Once invited, they can:

✅ View the full account
✅ Register themselves for activities
✅ Save their own payment method in their wallet and use it at checkout

👉 Every member with full access must use their own saved payment method. For privacy and security, wallets are not shared between members.

Step 1 - Choose a person in the Members tab

  1. Log in to your Amilia personal account (My account).

  2. Now, go to the Members tab and select a Person from the dropdown.

    • If the person isn't an account member yet, click Add a person and provide their information to create their profile.

  3. Click the ellipses next to their name and click Invite to join family account. The 'Share my account' button isn't available if the member or contact is under 14 years old.

Step 2 - Send invite to member

When you send a family account invitation, the process depends on whether the person you’re inviting already has an Amilia profile. If they don’t, they’ll create one before joining. If they do, their existing profile will merge into your family account.

Invitations expire after 10 days, and the invitee must be at least 14 years old. If an invitation has expired, the account owner of the account can resend an invitation.

A. Invite someone who doesn’t have an Amilia account

In the Members tab, select the person you want to share your account with.
If they’re not listed yet, create their profile first.

  1. Open the ellipses menu (...) next to their name and choose Invite to join family account.

  2. A message will confirm what the invited member can access. Review the details, then send the invitation.

  3. The person will receive an email prompting them to create their Amilia account. After setting up their login credentials, they can sign in and access the shared family account, with their own private wallet.

B. Invite someone who already has an Amilia account

  1. In the Members tab, select the person you want to share your account with.
If they’re not listed yet, create their profile first.

  2. Open the ellipses menu (...) next to their name and choose Invite to join family account.

  3. A confirmation message will explain how merging accounts works, including what information will be combined, what each person can manage, and the fact that the change is permanent. Review the details carefully, then send the invitation.

  4. The invitee will receive an email prompting them to accept. When they do, they’ll sign in with their existing Amilia credentials, and their account will merge into your family account. They will no longer have a standalone account. They’ll have the same full access as you, with their own separate wallet.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How is an invited member different from a regular account member?

Unless you share the account, only the account owner may log in with their email address and password to access and manage their own and the account members’ purchases.

When you share the account, the account member sets up their own login credentials with their own email address and password. They get full visibility of the personal account and can make purchases on behalf of themselves and other account members (like the account owner).

2. What can invited members do in a family account?

Invited members benefit from an unrestricted view of the shared account and its account members. This includes members' activities, calendars, and invoices.

However, invited members can't access the account owner's saved payment methods (i.e., in the Wallet) to make a purchase. Each invited member is given their own Wallet to save their own payment method(s).

3. Can invited members make a purchase in the store?

Invited members can buy things in the store if they use a payment method (e.g., credit card or bank account) from their own Wallet.

They can't use the Wallet of an account owner or another invited member.

4. What is the Wallet for?

The Wallet stores saved credit card(s) and bank account(s), making it easy to manage your payment details, authorizations, automated payments and gift card credit.

Invited members can't access the account owner's Wallet. Instead, invited members can save their own credit card and/or bank account details in their very own Wallet (even if it's the same credit card or bank numbers as the account owner's or another invited member).

Click here to learn more about the Wallet.

5. Can I see who made a purchase in a family account?

You can easily tell who made a purchase or payment transaction in the Billing tab.

  1. In the shared account, go to the Billing tab.

  2. Select the organization from the dropdown and click View on a transaction.

  3. Refer to 'Created by' on the bottom left of the transaction.

6. Can I revoke login access from invited members?

Please contact support@amilia.com if you need to revoke someone's shared access.

7. Can I customize different levels of access for invited members?

Currently, it’s not possible to customize levels of access for invited members. Stay tuned as we add more functionality to shared accounts!

8. When should or shouldn't I share my account?

You should only share your Amilia personal account with members of your household. This avoids them needing to create a separate personal account to make purchases, and also avoids password sharing to gain access to your personal account.

We don't recommend using the shared account when parents are divorced, for team registrations, or for corporate accounts.

9. My invitation link expired. What should I do?

Invitation links are valid for 10 days. If your invitee’s link has expired, just resend a new invitation by following the steps outlined in Step 2.

10. Do the original account owner and invited members have the same rights within the account?

They share most rights, but there are a few differences. Only the original account owner can send invitations to add new members and remove existing members from the account. Invited members can manage their own registrations and activities but cannot invite or delete others.
