Your Amilia personal account keeps track of purchases made for you and your household. For example (when adding account members), a parent will add their child, or a spouse will add their partner, and register them to events on their behalf. Only one person (the account owner) logged in and managed the personal account...until now.

A shared account is when you invite the member(s) from your account to create their own username and password so they too can log in, get visibility of everything in the account, and buy things in the store using their own payment method(s).

Step 1 - Choose a person in the Members tab

  1. Log in to your Amilia personal account (My account).

  2. Now, go to the Members tab and select a Person from the dropdown.

    • If the person isn't an account member yet, click Add a person and provide their information to create their profile.

  3. Click the ellipses next to their name and click Share my account. The 'Share my account' button isn't available if the member or contact is under 14 years old.

Step 2 - Send invite to member

  1. On the 'Share my account page', click Send invite. A confirmation appears when the invite is sent to the person's email address.

  2. The invite is not sent if there's no email address in the person's profile, or the email address is being used to log in to an existing Amilia personal account. To edit their personal or contact information, click the member's name to return to their profile.

💡 If the email address of the member you want to share with is already being used as a username to log in to a different Amilia account, you must contact us to request a merge first. See question #9 in our FAQ to learn how.

Step 3 - How invited members log in to a shared account

Invited members must check their inbox for an email from Amilia, like this one 👇

Here's what an invited member must do:

  1. The invited member must click Create account to set up their login credentials.

  2. When finished, they'll be logged in to the shared account. Whenever the member uses their credentials on Amilia's login page, they'll access the shared account.

Invited members get full visibility of the shared account to manage their activities; and their own Wallet to manage their payment methods.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How is an invited member different from a regular account member?

Unless you share the account, only the account owner may log in with their email address and password to access and manage their own and the account members’ purchases.

When you share the account, the account member sets up their own login credentials with their own email address and password. They get full visibility of the personal account and can make purchases on behalf of themselves and other account members (like the account owner).

2. What can invited members do in a shared account?

Invited members benefit from an unrestricted view of the shared account and its account members. This includes members' activities, calendars, and invoices.

However, invited members can't access the account owner's saved payment methods (i.e., in the Wallet) to make a purchase. Each invited member is given their own Wallet to save their own payment method(s).

3. Can invited members make a purchase in the store?

Invited members can buy things in the store if they use a payment method (e.g., credit card or bank account) from their own Wallet.

They can't use the Wallet of an account owner or another invited member.

4. What is the Wallet for?

The Wallet stores saved credit card(s) and bank account(s), making it easy to manage your payment details, authorizations, automated payments and gift card credit.

Invited members can't access the account owner's Wallet. Instead, invited members can save their own credit card and/or bank account details in their very own Wallet (even if it's the same credit card or bank numbers as the account owner's or another invited member).

Click here to learn more about the Wallet.

5. Can I see who made a purchase in a shared account?

You can easily tell who made a purchase or payment transaction in the Billing tab.

  1. In the shared account, go to the Billing tab.

  2. Select the organization from the dropdown and click View on a transaction.

  3. Refer to 'Created by' on the bottom left of the transaction.

6. Can I revoke login access from invited members?

Please contact support@amilia.com if you need to revoke someone's shared access.

7. Can I customize different levels of access for invited members?

Currently, it’s not possible to customize levels of access for invited members. Stay tuned as we add more functionality to shared accounts!

8. What does it mean when an email is linked to an existing username?

When an email is linked to an existing username, it means that someone is already using the email address to log in to another Amilia account. Here's a scenario:

  • Jane Doe creates an Amilia personal account with her email address (i.e., username). She adds her husband, John Doe, and their two children, as account members. Jane wants to give John access to her account so that he can log in, see all the details and buy things for the kids.

However, John's email is linked to an existing username. This means that John created his own Amilia account with his own email address. John can already log in to his own Amilia personal account, but it's not the same account that Jane has.

Jane can't share her account with John because she can't use his email address. Anything Jane does in her personal account is separate from what John does in his personal account.

9. How do I share my account if an email is linked to an existing username?

If you want to share your personal account with an account member whose email is already a username for another Amilia account, you must request an account merge.

This means the account member's purchases, bookings, calendar, etc., will be merged into the account owner's personal account. Once this is done, the member can use their email address and password to log in to the shared account to see the account details. However, their original account that existed prior to the merge is no longer accessible.

To request a merge, please email support@amilia.com. You must CC the invited account member to the email. Copy and paste this text and replace the fields with your information:

'Hi Amilia team,

I, (insert your username email address), would like to have (insert the full name of the account member and their email address) merged into my account. Thank you, '

Once the email is sent, the account member must agree to be merged into your account by replying :

'I accept to be merged into (insert the account owner's First and Last Name, and email address) Amilia personal account. Thank you'.

Our support team will confirm with you when the accounts are merged.

10. When should or shouldn't I share my account?

You should only share your Amilia personal account with members of your household. This avoids them needing to create a separate personal account to make purchases, and also avoids password sharing to gain access to your personal account.

We don't recommend using the shared account when parents are divorced, for team registrations, or for corporate accounts.
