The rate for Interac transactions on our integrated terminals is 1%+$0.20.
Interac is a highly used method of payment in Canada that can’t be ignored. In fact, nearly 80% of Canadians prefer paying by debit or with credit card, instead of cash.
In this article:
1. What is Interac?
Interac is a Canadian interbank network that links financial institutions and other enterprises for the purpose of exchanging electronic financial transactions. Interac serves as the Canadian debit card system and the predominant funds transfer network via its e-Transfer service.
Amilia supports Interac Direct Payment (IDP) for Canadian merchants that use an A920 Pax integrated terminal to accept in-person transactions. Customers enter their personal identification number (PIN) and the amount paid is deducted from their chequing or savings account.
2. How do I activate Interac for in-person transactions?
- Prerequisites -
Your organization must already have a SmartRec store.
The terminal(s) must be in your possession, and connected to your WiFi and SmartRec store.
Don't have a Pax A920 integrated terminal? Email us at success@amilia.com to order your Pax A920 terminal(s) and discuss shipping options.
Interac Activation Process
Please download the Interac Debit Acceptance Form. Please make sure the person who completes the form is an authorized signer for your organization.
⌨️ Start a chat with us to let us know the form is completed. We may ask you to email it to support@amilia.com.

What to expect once Interac is activated
Interac is supported for in-person transactions on integrated Pax A920 terminals. It cannot be used for any online payment or e-transfers.
All reports related to payment will feature data related to Interac as soon as it is activated for your organization.
Interac Debit fees have their own line item on the monthly Amilia invoice.
