In February and March of each year, Quebec organizations who provide certain day care and day camp services can generate RL-24 tax receipts for children who are eligible to receive them. The following information is necessary to generate an eligible RL-24 tax receipt:

Organizations who offer day care or day camp services are required to provide SIN information for children who are eligible to receive the RL-24 tax credit, and it is in your right to refuse to provide this information. However, if your child is eligible for this credit, you must indicate your SIN if you wish to receive the RL-24 receipt.

Any other missing information will result in the inability to generate an RL-24 receipt.

👉 The organization is responsible to generate and make any manual modifications or corrections to individual RL-24 receipts. If you have any questions related to your statements or prefer to receive your receipts by mail, get in touch directly with the organization.

In this article, we’ll look at:

1. Update account information

In the Members tab, select the name of the member(s) you wish to update. Verify the contact information for each child (for each organization from whom you're expecting an RL-24 tax receipt). Click here to learn how to update member information.

2. Add Contacts to your child's profile

If your child is eligible for an RL-24 tax credit, you must provide the contact information and full address for the legal guardian(s) to the applicable organization(s).

  • Via the Members tab, select your child's name.

  • Scroll down to the 'Forms by organization section'.

  • Under the appropriate organization(s), click Edit next to Contacts.

  • Save any changes.

    2.1. Add a new Contact

If necessary, you can Add additional contacts.

    • Select an existing account member or Add a new contact.

    • When adding a new contact, fill in the required fields on the form, click Ok.

    • This creates a new account member record.

2.2. Second legal guardian and RL-24's

Specify the RL-24 percentage to be allocated to each legal guardian (if applicable).

      • Choose if one guardian receives 100% or if it's split 50/50.

      • The total percentage must equate to 100%.

      • Save your changes.

3. Add or modify your SIN

Social insurance numbers (SIN) are added in the adult member's profile via the Members tab. Primary and Secondary legal guardians receiving an RL-24 tax receipt must provide their SIN.

  • Select the adult member's profile.

  • Scroll down to the Other information section and click Edit.

  • Save your changes.

Under Forms by Organization, ensure SIN information is visible to the organization in the Other information for this organization section. If the box is checked off, the SIN is not shared.

👉 You can only add or modify your SIN if you are the primary or secondary legal guardian of a child who is eligible for the RL-24 tax credit.

4. Retrieve your RL-24

After receiving an email from your organization informing you that RL-24 slips are ready, you may recover them from your personal Amilia account.

Connect to your personal Amilia account:

  • Click the Documents tab on the left side of your screen.

  • After clicking the tab, you should see your RL-24 tax slip(s).

  • Download the document.

5. Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I see my RL-24?

If the statements aren't in the Documents tab, here are some possible reasons:

  • The organization administrator(s) may not have finished generating all the statements (it can be a time-consuming task). However, you should receive an email informing you when your statement is ready.

  • The information provided in your child's profile was not complete when the receipts were generated. The following information needs to be in your child's account:
    - The SIN of the first and second legal guardian (if applicable)
    - The postal address for the first and second legal guardian (if applicable)
    - The child's birth date
    - Authorize an organization to view SIN information (in the Members tab under Forms by organization)

  • The activities you enrolled in were not eligible for tax returns. If you're unsure, check with the organization(s) that you have registered with.

  • The browser used is not compatible. We recommend using Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.

How secure is my personal information and SIN number?

No one can access or view your SIN number after it has been saved, which shows asterisks instead of a series of numbers. If you keep your personal login information private, the SIN number is hidden and encrypted so that it cannot be retrieved.

Why does the organization say I don’t have my SIN saved and shared?

It’s possible that you can have two different profiles on your account. One can be as an account member and the other as a contact. It can happen where your contact profile (with no SIN saved) is linked as the legal guardian. Make sure your account member profile (with a SIN) is linked as the legal guardian.

How come I only see part of the amount I paid in my receipt?

Contact the organization to verify your RL-24 receipts - as all payments are taken into consideration if all the occurrences of your activities were held between January 1st to Dec 31st of the same fiscal year.

If there were discounts or credits provided by the organization, these do not count towards the total amount of the RL-24 receipt.

Why do I see a receipt for one child but not the other who was registered with a different organization?

Each organization is responsible for creating their RL-24 slips in their own time, and they are aware of the deadlines set by the government. If you receive a receipt from one organization but not from another, it’s possible they haven’t yet completed the process.
