Single Sign-On (SSO) is a type of authentication in which a user logs in to one application and is automatically granted access to other services. In this case, SSO offers a secure way to log in to your Amilia account using your Google, Facebook Meta, or Microsoft account and password. SSO also facilitates the management of employee logins to your organization’s SmartRec back office.

✔️ Compatible with Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS)

✔️ We support SSO for Amilia, Google, Meta (Facebook) and Microsoft

✔️ Govern access to SmartRec with multifactor authentication & password policies

Keep reading to learn how to set up Single Sign-On for yourself, or how to enforce SSO for your employees, and answers to other frequently asked questions.

1. How to set up SSO for your Amilia account

With SSO, signing in to your Amilia personal account is as easy as clicking on one of three popular apps you want to log in with : Google, Facebook Meta, or Microsoft.

Steps to follow

  1. Go to Amilia's login page. To choose which service to authenticate with (i.e., log in) - click the app icon.

  2. Choose one email address (per app) for SSO. When you log in to the chosen app with this email, you'll automatically log in to your Amilia personal account whenever you visit app.amilia or any SmartRec store. If you're not yet logged in to the chosen app, you'll be asked to provide your login credentials for it.

  3. SmartRec checks if the email address matches with an existing Amilia username.

    • If you already have an Amilia account with the same email address, you can link the SSO authentication method to your current Amilia account by providing your Amilia password. The next time you log in, simply click on the SSO icon, or log in as usual with your Amilia username and password if you don’t want to use SSO.

    • If you do not already have an Amilia account with the same email address, you may continue to create one. However, if you continue but already have a pre-existing account with another email address, you will end up with 2 different accounts!

  4. Setup is finished! Once you're logged into your Google, Facebook Meta, or Microsoft account, accessing your Amilia personal account is simple. Click on the respective app icon on the login page and voilà - no username or password required!

2. How to enforce SSO for employees (Microsoft only)

Your organization can enforce admins to log in exclusively with their Microsoft credentials for access to the SmartRec back office. Both Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) and Microsoft Azure Active Directory (including Entra ID) provide free options to configure password policies for Microsoft Single sign-on.

Steps to follow

After the feature is activated from the Apps tab, you must enable the Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality for every user that exists in your Active Directory (AD).

  1. Go to the Account > Administrators subtab and click the admin's name.

  2. Add a checkmark to 'Require user to ONLY log in with Microsoft SSO'.

    • When this box is checked, the admin must log in to their Microsoft account to access their Amilia account and their organization's SmartRec back office.

    • When this box is unchecked, the admin can log in with SSO via Google, Facebook Meta, Microsoft, or provide their Amilia credentials on Amilia's login page.

  3. Note that an admin may be required to approve the usage of the Amilia application for it to be visible in Microsoft's My Apps portal.

  4. Setup is finished in SmartRec! When signing in with Microsoft, admins can access all their Microsoft products, in addition to their Amilia account (whenever they visit any page on app.amilia or any SmartRec store).

Frequently Asked Questions

What if the email address I use for SSO isn't the same for my Amilia account?

The email used to log in to Google, Facebook Meta, or Microsoft must match the email address used to log in to Amilia (i.e., your username).

How do I turn off SSO or change the account I'm using for SSO?

To change the account logged into with Single Sign-On or cut the SSO flow, log out of your Amilia personal account and the application in question. For example, if SSO is set up with a specific Google account and you no longer wish to use that account, log out. The next time you click on the app icon, you can choose another account or create a new one.

To restart the Single Sign-On process from scratch, go to your internet browser's privacy settings and clear your cache and delete cookies.

How do I enforce multifactor authentication (MFA) to log in to Amilia ?

Multifactor authentication requires the user to enter an additional set of credentials before they are granted access. A popular type of multifactor authentication is two-factor authentication (2FA).

Access governance by your I.T. team is permitted thanks to our integration with Microsoft's SSO. If your organization wants to enforce Single Sign-On to Amilia with multifactor authentication, you must use Microsoft Single Sign-On (SSO) and then leverage Microsoft’s services to set up multifactor authentication.

Is Amilia Single Sign-On (SSO) available for other apps?

You may only use Single Sign-On with Google, Facebook Meta, or Microsoft from Amilia's login page.

However, SmartRec can be added to leading Single Sign-On app portals like Okta, Entra, Jumpcloud, and Onelogin via a Secure Web Authentication configuration.

Please note we also support different methods of authentification through API.

Can I use Amilia Single Sign-On (SSO) on my mobile?

Amilia Single sign-on (SSO) is currently not supported on mobile devices, but it's in the works! Stay tuned!

Does Amilia support Single Sign-On integrations via SAML?

The Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) protocol exchanges authorization and authentication data in XML format.

Amilia does not support Single Sign-On integrations with SAML. We instead support Microsoft SSO natively.

Does Amilia support passwordless authentication?

Passwordless authentication works by asking the user to provide their username to login. Once the username is provided, a one-time passcode is delivered to the user via email, SMS, etc. The user must input the passcode to log in.

Passwordless authentication is not supported by Amilia natively, but options for this method are possible with Microsoft Entra, Okta, Jumpcloud, and Onelogin.

Can I enforce SSO for participants?

You can't enforce SSO for your participants. Participants may choose to use SSO independently to log in to their personal account, but your organization cannot require them to do so. It's only possible to enforce SSO with Microsoft's services for your administrators.
