When a member purchases a network membership, the location at which it was purchased is designated as that member’s “home location.” This is useful to admins, who need an accurate count of their “home location” members for reporting purposes.
But members are free to use their membership at any other location within the network that also offers the same membership. So, if a member decides to attend a different location than the one from which they originally purchased their membership, it’s possible to relocate that membership to the new location, which will then become the member’s new “home location,” but this is not a requirement. Members remain free to attend a different location without relocating their membership.
All membership relocations are tracked in reports and summary pages, and the information is displayed in both locations (origin and destination).
Note:
Membership relocation only works with network memberships created by the network Parent.
Membership relocation is only available for ongoing memberships. Fixed-term memberships are not supported at this time.
Memberships are always transferred at the end of the current billing cycle; proration is not possible. That means the full amount of a billing cycle is charged at the origin location, and the relocation occurs on the first day of the next billing cycle.
Because discounts are applied locally, existing discounts will not be transferred to the destination location (unless the member is eligible for an existing discount at the destination location, which would be applied automatically).
There are two membership relocation scenarios: relocation from the destination location (the new location) and relocation from the origin location (the original location at which the membership was purchased).
1. How to relocate a network membership from the destination location
Find the member whose membership is to be relocated by searching for them in the Clients > Network subtab, then click the View button. You’re taken to the Clients > Account members subtab.
From the Clients > Account members subtab, click the Registrations subtab. The Registrations page is displayed.
Click the … next to the membership you want to relocate and select Relocate. The Membership relocation menu is displayed.
The destination location is pre-selected in the New location drop-down menu, as this is being done from the destination location. The top of the menu displays the membership to be relocated, its current location, and the account member’s name. The bottom of the menu displays the membership, the account member’s name, the destination location, and the effective date. Click Save.
The relocation is saved and will become active at the end of the current billing cycle. Upcoming relocation is displayed next to the relocated membership.
2. How to relocate a network membership from the origin location
Find the member whose membership is to be relocated by searching for them in the Memberships > Membership management subtab. Click the … next to the membership you want to relocate and select Relocate. The Membership relocation menu is displayed.
From the New location drop-down menu, select the destination location to which you want to transfer the membership.
3. How to cancel a network membership relocation
Membership relocations can be cancelled as long as the current billing cycle has not elapsed. After that date, the relocation takes effect and can no longer be cancelled. You can, however, relocate the membership back to its original location.
Membership relocations can be cancelled from either the Clients > Network > Registrations subtab or the Memberships > Membership management subtab. The steps are the same. In this example, we will be doing it from the Memberships > Membership management subtab.
